East Gallery deals in works by artists who saw more than was in front of them: William Blake's color prints and watercolors, Anna Atkins's cyanotypes and Glyn Philpot's paintings.
We buy from private collections and estates, place works with collectors and museums, and hold four exhibitions a year between Chelsea and Los Angeles. Every work we sell comes with its provenance, a condition report from our paper conservator and the literature we know of.
What we do
We buy outright and take works on consignment from private owners, trusts and estates. Our terms are written down before anything moves.
We help collectors build and look after collections of British works on paper and early photography, including condition, framing and insurance.
We work with curators on acquisitions and lend to exhibitions. Registrars get condition reports and certificates well ahead of any shipment.
Written valuations for insurance and estate purposes, prepared with a certified appraiser.
