How We Photograph Artwork
Demo Gallery·August 31, 2026·1 min read
studioprocess
Every work that enters the gallery gets photographed the same morning it arrives.
The setup
North light, a tripod, and a gray card. No filters, no drama — the goal is a file a conservator would trust.
- Shoot square to the work, level and centered
- Bracket exposures; keep the one with honest whites
- Capture the edges and the back — provenance lives there too
Why it matters
Collectors buy from images more than they admit. An honest photograph is the first act of trust between a gallery and a buyer.
